Day of Ideas, Patmion, 18.00

A presentation of the ideas behind the 2nd Patmos Ecology Festival will take place at the Patmion Cultural Centre. The following questions will be addressed: What is Ecology? Why is it currently a matter of life or death? How can we apply it in our daily life? Following with a presentation of last year’s Festival actions and the Community of Trees progress until today. Goals of this year’s Festival will then be introduced.

The documentary follows innovative professionals and experts, who are trying to save the topsoil of the earth which, due to human actions, is now in danger of turning completely and rapidly into a desert. By Rob Herring and Ryan Wirick.

Collection of Forest and Wild seeds, Patoinos Farm, Groikos, 16.00

On a biodiverse farm, we will learn how to identify and collect forest and wild seeds, during the ideal season, with the aim of creating seed bombs later in the week. The Patmos bus will depart from Skala at 15.30 and return at 17.55 and at 19.40. Free transportation.

Coastline Cleaning, Skala Lighthouse, 3.45-5.45pm

We will gather to clean the Skala – Sapsila coastline of plastic waste, before it ends up in the sea.

Making of Seed Bombs and Seed Bombing on Kouma hill, 8.00-17.30

We will learn how to form seed bombs with clay and a variety of soil enriching seeds, from herbs and forest and fruit trees. Following, we will sow the seed bombs onsite in the enclosed area of 12 acres.

Making of Seed Bombs and Seed Bombing, Tree Planting on Koumas hill, 8.00-17.00

We will learn how to form seed bombs with clay and a variety of soil enriching seeds, from herbs and forest and fruit trees. Following, we will sow the seed bombs onsite in the enclosed area of 12 acres. We are also planting 200 sapling trees given to us by the southern Aegean regional nursery.

Road Race Run – Walk 5 km Central Square of Skala, 10.00

5 km road race with start and finish in the central square of Skala. The route will be circular starting from the main road Skala-Kambos, reaching Koumas hill, collecting a seed bomb en route and returning through the road Meloi-Skala. Starting at 10.30 the latest.

We will complete seed bombing and tree planting, and open the irrigation system.

Vegan cooking seminar with Gozde Oguz, in the garden of Pernera vegan, 17.30-19.30

In the company of the vegan chef, we will prepare vegetable soutzoukakia together with simple ingredients that we all have in our kitchen, as well as other delicious dishes, which we will have the chance to taste at the end! None of the flavours we loved as children will ever be missed on a plant-based diet! See you at Pernera, in Skala!

We will celebrate the closing of the 2nd Ecological Festival of Patmos while eating and drinking together!
